Statement of Faith

IMC STATEMENT OF FAITH
THE HOLY BIBLE is the Word of God. Holy men of old were moved upon by the Holy Spirit to speak and to write what was revealed to them. We accept, preach and practice the scriptures for reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness, as the infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. II Timothy 3:16-17.
 
OUR GOD IS ONE, but manifested in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, being co-equal. The Father, greater than all, sent his Son, Jesus, who was the Word of God made flesh. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth to draw us to the Father through the Son. John 14:28; John 16:28; John 1:14; John 15:26.
 
GOD CREATED MAN in His likeness and in His image and that through man’s disobedience, sin came into the world. Through the first man, Adam, all have sinned and are in need of salvation. You must be born again. Salvation is a gift from God. Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin so we could be in right standing with God. Godly sorrow that works repentance, faith in Jesus as Savior and confessing Him as Lord are steps to salvation.
 
WATER BAPTISM by immersion is a commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ to all who believe. It is an outward show of an inward work of the Holy Spirit of God. It identifies you with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
 
BAPTISM OF OR INFILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT is the promise of the Father. Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire. Those who receive this experience will speak in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. Being born again of the Holy Spirit qualifies one to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
 
BEING DISCIPLES OF CHRIST Without holiness, no one shall see God in you. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. What God has done on the inside, we, by God’s help and grace, bring to the outside, through self-discipline or sanctification, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
 
DIVINE HEALING The same blood and body of Jesus that was wounded for our sins and iniquities also bore our sorrow and grief, took our infirmities, bore our sicknesses and by His stripes, we are healed. By and through faith in His name, we are made strong. If you are sick and unable to stand in faith, call the elders of the church to pray the prayer of faith over you and you shall be healed.
 
THE RETURN OF THE LORD JESUS and the resurrection of the just. All who died in Christ will rise first, then we which are alive and remain steadfast, unmovable and unshakable in the faith shall be caught up with them to meet Him in the air.
 
HELL AND THE LAKE OF FIRE is for the devil and all unbelievers. Hell has a duration of eternal punishment just as heaven and the abode of God has a duration of eternal joy and peace in the presence of God.
 
THE GOSPEL - GOOD NEWS TO ALL It’s good news to know you don't have to go to hell. Jesus went for you. It’s good news to know you don’t have to sin. Jesus was made to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. It’s good news to know you don’t have to be weak, sick and in poverty. Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses and by His stripes we are healed. He who was rich became poor so that we, through His poverty, might be rich. It’s good news to know that He has made us fit to be children of God, and has delivered us from the kingdom of darkness and translated us into the Kingdom of Light .
